Marvel has officially revealed the lineup for its upcoming X-Men film, bringing in a mix of rising stars and established talent to lead the mutant team into the MCU. The announcement came during the D23 event in Anaheim on Thursday.
The untitled X-Men movie, which is scheduled to open in theaters on May 5, 2028, will star Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, a role that was first teased in the latest Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Joining Sink are Kit Connor as Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops; Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, or Professor X; Samara Weaving as Emma Frost; Maya Boyd as Storm; and Inde Navarrette as Rogue.
Navarrette comes to the project fresh off what many consider a breakout performance in the surprise hit Obsession, a film that earned both critical praise and strong box office returns. The cast will be squaring off against Nathaniel Milbury, better known as Mister Sinister, who will be played by Adam Driver.
The integration of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been long anticipated, with numerous teases over the years. It wasn’t until the most recent Spider-Man installment that Marvel mutants were finally woven into the larger narrative. Given that the release date is still far off, some fans may be bracing for possible schedule adjustments before then, but for now, the stage is set for a mutant takeover.
With the core team now in place, Marvel is building toward one of its most ambitious crossovers yet. The X-Men film, still untitled, will mark the true beginning of the mutant era within the MCU.
