Drake has always been known for his love of luxury watches, but his latest acquisition could be the rarest of them all. On Friday night, he took to Instagram to reveal a Rolex Daytona that appears to be a one-of-one creation, a feat practically unheard of in the modern watch world.
Rolex is no stranger to off-catalog releases, producing extremely limited and high-priced variations on its iconic models, often laden with extravagant diamond settings. However, a true one-of-one commission from the Crown is an exceedingly rare event. It seems to have been no obstacle for Drake, who posted the extraordinary timepiece to his millions of followers.
The watch itself is a typical showstopper in the tradition of Rolex’s most exclusive pieces. Its case and dial feature the expected glitz, including a pavé diamond dial and sapphires set into the hour markers, bezel, and lugs, much like the model Roger Federer was seen wearing last year.
What truly distinguishes this Daytona is its bracelet. In his caption, Drake revealed the name of his one-of-one: the “Ice Gradient” Daytona. The bracelet starts with white diamonds at the clasp and gradually transitions from clear stones to blue sapphires along the band. The rapper showcased the effect in his video, slowly rolling his wrist to reveal the full gradient.
Watch historian and spotter Nick Gould noted that Rolex patented this style of setting in Switzerland in 2023 and did the same in the United States last year, confirming the novelty of the design. Drake intends to keep it that way, writing in his caption, “Please do not get your local jeweler to recreate this. This is a stand alone and a part of history.”
The rapper explained that the watch was “Crafted to celebrate the record breaking milestones of 2026,” a reference to the trio of albums he released simultaneously. It is clearly designed for “Iceman,” his favorite among the three. The caseback is engraved with the words “Freeze the World.”
The praise for the watch has been swift and emphatic. Drake himself wrote, “Today I received the most important thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning.” Mike Nouveau, a dealer and WatchTok King, estimated that this is the most expensive Rolex ever sold at retail level. It is a piece that lives up to the hyperbole: insane, jaw-dropping, wild, crazy, and shocking.
Notably, Drake didn’t say this is the most important watch he owns, although he possesses many worthy of that label. He called it the most important thing, period. That alone underscores just how significant this one-of-one Daytona truly is.
