British-Nigerian artist Olaolu Slawn has revealed ‘The Slawn x Rolex Multiverse,’ a series of 12 one-of-one custom Rolex watches co-designed with cultural figures from sports, music, art, and fashion. First reported by Will Lavin, the project builds on Slawn’s earlier hand-painted watch releases.
Eleven of the 12 collaborators have been confirmed, spanning a broad cross-section of global street culture and fine art. The lineup includes Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho, Italian striker Mario Balotelli, rap stars Gunna and Lil Yachty, Corteiz founder Clint419, Fuckthepopulation founder Zac FTP, Japanese graphic designer VERDY, visual artist and photographer Gabriel Moses, artist Cedric Christie, nightlife operator David Grutman, and the Nigerian skate collective Motherlan.
The remaining two slots in the 12-piece lineup remain undisclosed, leaving a pair of mystery collaborators under wraps.
Each watch in the collection is a one-of-one design, and every piece is set to be released individually throughout August. The project’s website is scheduled to launch on August 18, with the timepieces expected to be showcased there.
With a roster that spans football, rap, art, and fashion, ‘The Slawn x Rolex Multiverse’ brings together an eclectic mix of names within a single custom watch project. The two yet to be revealed collaborators are still to be announced as the rollout begins.
