Google lets users remove visible watermarks from AI content

Google announced Friday that users can now remove the visible watermark from AI generated images, videos, and songs, a move that does away with the visual marker while preserving hidden authentication data.

In a post on X, Josh Woodward, Google’s vice president for Gemini, said the toggle will be available for Nano Banana, Omni, and Lyria models. He added that the setting to switch off the visible watermark will be offered in Gemini and Flow, the company’s video editor, with support for Search expected soon.

Google stressed that dropping the visible label won’t affect the invisible SynthID watermark or metadata tied to the C2PA standard, keeping those layers of identification intact.

The new watermark toggle is now available in Gemini and Flow, with Search integration planned for later.
